Survivors of the Uttarakhand tunnel are transported to AIIMS-Rishikesh for examination
Officials claimed that on Wednesday, workers who had been rescued from the Silkyara tunnel were flown to AIIMS-Rishikesh for a medical examination.
After an intense 17-day effort that concluded Tuesday night, 41 workers were rescued from the collapsed tunnel in Uttarkashi.
Following their evacuation, the personnel were put under medical monitoring at a hospital in Chinyalisaur.
In the afternoon, a Chinook chopper took them to AIIMS-Rishikesh.
The personnel will first be brought to the trauma ward of the hospital, after which they will be moved to the disaster ward for a thorough assessment of their health parameters, according to an official at AIIMS-Rishikesh.
He said that they would be monitored and that their mental health will also be assessed.
There are one hundred beds available at AIIMS-Rishikesh’s disaster ward.
He said that the institution is prepared to care for the personnel who have been evacuated.
Buses are also used to transport workers’ relatives to Rishikesh.
