The BJP accuses the CM of “misusing political immunity” by going after L-G Saxena

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is “misusing political immunity” of the Assembly by using it to attack his political opponents, according to Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, who made this claim on Thursday. He said that Kejriwal was criticizing L-G VK Saxena by abusing his political immunity.

Kejriwal accused the L-G and the BJP of intimidating law enforcement officials and impeding a number of municipal government projects. The Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, according to Sachdeva, finds it alarming that the Chief Minister, his ministers, and MLAs continue to recite their “diatribes” against the L-G, Delhi’s constitutional head.

“We have a government and the Speaker of the assembly who flout the protocol too often, but it is a parliamentary ethic that members of the House do not criticize the constitutional head of the government,” the Delhi BJP chairman said.

The Delhi branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party, meanwhile, said that Kejriwal had neglected to pay MCD workers’ wages, claiming that some 28,000 workers had been waiting for their paychecks for the last two months. The chief minister was “deceiving” MCD workers, according to BJP spokesman Praveen Shankar Kapoor, by promising regular wage payments.

“Delays have become a regular problem, even though the AAP administration promised that wages would be paid out on the first of every month. Employee paycheck delays persist even after a special event was planned to honor Chief Minister Kejriwal for his alleged dedication to on-time payments, according to Kapoor.

He said that because MCD employees—such as teachers, engineers, physicians, nurses, and administrative staff—received their December 2023 pay in late January 2024 rather than on schedule, the circumstance has made their financial hardships worse. “The accumulated salary dues for January add to their financial woes as February comes to an end,” he said.
