The SGPC’s March 29 budget

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) resolved to propose its budget for the fiscal year 2024–25 on March 29 at its executive meeting, which was held here on Saturday.

The committee chose to address issues related to farmer demands, the release of “Bandi Singhs,” and Balwant Singh Rajoana, who was found guilty of assassinating former Chief Minister Beant Singh, in order to show sympathy for the farmers who were demonstrating. The executive requested the Union Government to support the requests of the farmers who were demonstrating, and they voted a resolution in support of them. Additionally, it requested assistance for the protesting farmers from the Bhagwant Singh Mann administration.

The executive committee meeting was headed by SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami. He announced the establishment of the Judicial Academy Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra Institute at Bahadurgarh, Patiala, to prepare Sikh youngsters for the PCS (Judicial) examination. The “Nischay Academy” in Chandigarh is already run by the SGPC to prepare Sikh youngsters for civil services exams.

Dhami chastised the Assam government for putting cameras in the restrooms of the young Sikh inmates of Dibrugarh Jail. He fought for the protection of their right to privacy and the non-violation of their human rights. Additionally, he insisted on their relocation from Assam to any prison in Punjab. He congratulated Satwant Kaur and Ramesh Singh on their appointments as general secretary and president, respectively, of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

Additionally, the SGPC management established a second YouTube channel to broadcast Gurbani from Takht Damdama Sahib and agreed to give its staff members 3% of their salaries.
