There should be no new illegal slums in Gurugram: DM

District Magistrate Nishant Kumar Yadav has issued orders to halt the development of unauthorized slums on government and private property in Gurugram, after recent fire occurrences in slum regions.

A district administration spokesman said that this order would take effect immediately and be in place until September 30 of this year.

According to the District Magistrate’s decision, unapproved slums have been built on private property in several Gurugram city locations.

The relevant authorities have periodically eradicated these slums after realizing this. However, city dwellers construct unauthorized homes and shantytowns and unlawfully take money from the citizens of these impoverished areas.

According to the District Magistrate, these unofficial slums have seen many fire occurrences in the last few years. Summertime brings with it an even greater severity of the issue. The spokesman also said that anybody found guilty of breaking the DM’s order will face legal action under Section 188 of the IPC.

Recent slum fires give rise to worries.

The action was taken in response to the Saturday fire in Sector 65, which destroyed at least 70 shanties or huts.
About two weeks earlier, there was a similar occurrence that resulted in the destruction of 300 huts in Sector 54 due to fire.
