Travelers in Rishikesh: Considerations Before Arranging Your Vacation: Heavy Traffic Was Observed During Massive influx of Visitors

As travelers descended upon Rishikesh and its environs on Saturday to commemorate the long weekend in the last week of March, traffic jams beset the city. There were frequent traffic jams for vehicles going from Haridwar to Rishikesh, as well as many kilometers of traffic delays on the Nepali Farm to Shyampur police station, Rishikesh to Ram Jhula-Tapovan, and Shivpuri route. Regretfully, Sunday traffic is predicted to become worse.

Because it was Good Friday this week, many government offices were closed on Saturday in honor of the centuries-old Jhanda Mela in Dehradun. Friday was also declared a government holiday. Due to the three-day weekend that travelers had to explore the area, there were a lot of people and traffic.

Beginning on Friday, cars from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh started to arrive in Rishikesh. On Saturday, however, there was a large inflow of outside automobiles, which put a lot of strain on the city’s major thoroughfares. A three-kilometer traffic bottleneck was reported along the route from Nepali Farm to the Shyampur police station.

From afternoon to evening, traffic at the Triveni Ghat crossroads was heavy, and slow-moving cars were seen on the Rishikesh to Shivpuri route in the vicinity of Ram Jhula, Tapovan, Neer Gaddu, and Shivpuri. Because of the traffic, a 30-minute trip took one to one and a half hours. Internal roads were completely closed, making it impossible for automobiles to reach other routes or for inhabitants to cross.

In the following weeks, it is anticipated that Rishikesh and the neighboring vacation spots would see an increase in visitors as summer approaches. This time of year, Rishikesh’s picturesque waterfalls and mountainous slopes make it more alluring. In order to prevent anxiety and discomfort, travelers are encouraged to verify the traffic situation and warnings before to scheduling their vacation in the mountainous stations.
