Two arrested for 50-year-old teacher’s murder and rape in Telangana

Two people were detained by Tadvai police on Friday for the alleged rape and killing of R Sujatha, a female Anganwadi instructor, in Mulugu on Wednesday.

Following the arrest of the suspects, A Ramaiah (45) and P Japaiah (42), who lived in Roheer village, the police confiscated a two-wheeler, a gold ornament, and Sujatha’s bank passbook.

Tadvai Inspector Shankar and his crew were performing a vehicle check at the Katapur crossroads, according to Mulugu DSP N Ravinder. When Ramaiah and Japaiah saw the police, they made an effort to escape. When Tadvai SI N Srikanth Reddy stopped them, he discovered Sujatha’s bank passbook, purse, and gold jewelry.

After completing her work at Katapur village, Sujatha was waiting at a bus stop when her friend Ramaiah volunteered to take her back to Chinaboinapally village.

Sujatha was unaware, nevertheless, that Japaiah had already been abandoned by Ramaiah near Nella Orre, a brook. Sujatha was picked up by Ramaiah and Japaiah, who then led her into the jungle where they raped and killed her by asphyxia.

Once her death was confirmed, they dumped her purse into the forest, her cell phone into the stream, and her gold jewelry and bank passbook into the woods. The DSP said that after that, they returned to Roheer village. The DSP further said that Tadvai Inspector V Shankar and SI N Srikanth Reddy were arrested after gathering evidence from CCTV video.
