The Delhi government has extended the EV scheme until June, making all cars bought since January eligible for rewards

The Delhi Cabinet decided on Friday to extend the policy for electric vehicles till June.

According to a Delhi government statement, all existing incentives and subsidies are still in place, and any cars bought after January 1 would be qualified for the advantages under this prolongation. It also said that the Delhi EV policy has been extended till June 30 or until the announcement of Delhi EV policy 2.0, whichever comes first.

At the Cabinet meeting on Friday, the decision to prolong the policy was made. According to the statement, input and recommendations from several stakeholders are now being taken into account for the future Delhi EV Policy 2.0.

“The extension of the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy underscores our dedication to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly transport ecosystem in the capital,” said Kailash Gahlot, Minister of Transport for Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bold leadership has inspired us to make Delhi a worldwide leader in electric transportation.

On August 7, 2020, the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy was first announced. It was meant to last for three years, however it was subsequently extended until December 31, 2023. The EV Policy 2.0 is currently being formulated by the government. Feedback was requested at a consultation conducted on May 24, 2023.
