Uddhav Sena refuses to budge on its demand for 23 seats in Maharashtra and asserts that the Congress must begin at zero

Sanjay Raut, a member of parliament for the Shiv Sena (UBT), reaffirmed on Friday, December 29, that his party will run in 23 seats in Maharashtra for the Lok Sabha, as the party has traditionally contested in the same number of seats. He claimed that negotiations with the senior congressional leadership are now taking place over seat sharing in the state. Sanjay Nirupam, the leader of the Congress, had said that the Shiv Sena UBT’s demand for 23 seats is “a lot.”

In today’s meeting in the nation’s capital, the Congress is expected to seek 22 seats from the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition in Maharashtra, according to sources.

What was said by Sanjay Raut?
The Shiv Sena is the largest party in Maharashtra. One national party is the Congress. According to Sanjay Raut, Uddhav Thackeray is having fruitful conversations with Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and other key Congressmen.

Raut said, subtly criticizing Nirupam, “In such a situation, it does not matter what the village street person says.”

The head of Shiv Sena UBT pointed out that Congress has to start again in Maharashtra because they did not win any seats.

“We have always said that the Shiv Sena is fighting for 23 seats in the Lok Sabha, and in our (Indian alliance) conference, we agreed to have talks later on the seats we have secured. Congress is a crucial friend of ours in the MVA, but they must start again from zero (seats) since they did not win any in Maharashtra, the speaker said.

Congress gathering in Maharashtra
Top officials of the Congress party’s Maharashtra branch are scheduled to gather in the nation’s capital on Friday, December 29, to deliberate on the allocation of seats in the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which is composed of the NCP and the Shiv Sena (UBT) in the state. Sources claim that of the 48 seats up for grabs in the Lok Sabha elections next year, the Congress is expected to seek 22 seats in the grand alliance.

To attend the conference, prominent party figures Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan, Nana Patole, Balasaheb Thorat, and Vijay Wadettiwar took a plane to Delhi.
