US responds to PM Modi and Rajnath Singh’s “Ghar me ghus ke marenge” statements with “Will not get involved.”

The US has pushed Pakistan and India to look for diplomatic solutions to their problems. Spokesman for the US State Department, Matthew Miller, said on Tuesday that there should be no more escalation between the two neighbors.

Miller’s comments were in answer to a query about previously reported remarks made by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on crossing borders to kill terrorists.

Miller said that although the US “encouraged India and Pakistan to avoid any escalation and find a resolution through dialogue,” the US would not become involved in the situation.

About PM Modi and Rajnath Singh’s comments about eliminating terrorists, what did the US say?
Miller responded, “The US will not get involved in the matter,” when asked if PM Modi and Rajnath Singh’s remarks can be seen as “confessions” about the alleged “assassination of (Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh) Nijjar in Canada, (designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh) Pannu’s murder-for-hire plot in New York, and killings in Pakistan.”

Miller said, “The United States will not intervene in this matter, but we do urge India and Pakistan to refrain from escalation and pursue a diplomatic solution.”

Miller said, “I am never going to preview any sanctions actions, which is not to say that there are coming,” to a query about why the US has not thought of imposing penalties on India in this regard. However, we don’t have open discussions on punishments when you want me to speak about them.

“Ghar me ghus ke marenge”: Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Modi alerted terrorists
Singh made reference to New Delhi’s tough stance against cross-border terrorism earlier this month. He stated that terrorists would face appropriate retaliation if they attempted to disrupt Indian peace or carry out terrorist acts, and that if they fled to Pakistan, India will invade their country and execute them.

The defense minister was answering a query on a story published in the British daily “The Guardian” that said Indian intelligence services killed terrorists in Pakistan as part of a more confident strategy for maintaining national security beyond 2019.

Similar remarks have also been made by PM Modi in relation to the measures taken to combat cross-border terrorism.
