In the first two hours of voting in the Udhampur Parliamentary seat, where Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh is trying to win a hat-trick, there was a turnout of over 8.44 percent of voters.

Men and women braved the rain and inclement weather to cast their ballots in the hilly districts.

According to officials, voting has been quiet so far. The first round of voting is taking place in Udhampur, one of J&K’s five Lok Sabha seats.

It is important to note that the constituency’s Doda and Kishtwar areas were once thought to be terrorist hotspots.

Inderwal reported 11.39% polling, Kishtwar 7.27%, Padder Nagseni 9.43%, Bhaderwah 6.13%, Doda 9.97%, Doda West, 9.71%, Ramban, 5.91%, Banihal, 5.88%, Udhampur West, 9.81% in Udhampur East, 7.19% in Chenani, 7.58% in Ramnagar, 8.17% in Bani, 11.04% in Billawar, 9.86% in Basohli, 6.12% in Jasrota, 9.03% in Kathua, and 10.37 percent in Hiranagar until 9 a.m.

One of the first people in line to cast a ballot at the polling place was Dr. Rakesh Minhas, the Returning Officer for the Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency.
Despite the bad weather, long lines are seen outside voting places all around the area.
