Will use speech and vote rather than force to settle disputes: Mehbooba Mufti

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti made an appeal today, urging people not to boycott the elections this time. She said that her party supported voting and speaking out instead of using force and violence, which she claimed was ineffective in resolving the problems in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mehbooba said that the impending election provided a vital platform to thwart the deterioration of Jammu and Kashmir’s interests and identity. Beyond only physical promises, the PDP president urged people to understand the greater importance of their involvement.

She asked political party employees to stand up to partisan politics and defend the region’s identity and interests by endorsing the PDP in the next elections.

The leader of the PDP bemoaned the “hard” times that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were going through, especially the unfair imprisonment of young, innocent people, while speaking at roadshows in Kokernag and the surrounding districts.

Mehbooba expressed her dissatisfaction with the National Conference’s (NC) unwillingness to work with her party during the election campaign and emphasized the need of unity in facing the challenges facing the area.
