Andy Murray’s injured ankle won’t be operated on

The BBC said on Monday that while Andy Murray has not been given a timeframe for his comeback, he would not be having surgery on the ankle he hurt at the Miami Open last month.

The 36-year-old Scot withdrew from this month’s Munich Open and Monte Carlo Masters after rolling his ankle in the last set of his defeat to Czech Tomas Machac in southern Florida.

An official representing Murray was cited as stating, “The most recent update from Andy is that he is now out of the walking boot and will not be having surgery on his ankle.”

“He hopes to resume hitting on the court shortly, and his rehabilitation is progressing well. He doesn’t yet have a scheduled comeback date for the competition.

Murray has already expressed his desire to compete in the May 26–27 French Open, which gets underway at Roland Garros.

July 1st marks the start of Wimbledon, where Murray has won two championships; later that month, the Paris Games begin.
