Asian Games-bound Indian men’s and women’s teams to train in Bengaluru the following week: report

The Indian men’s and women’s teams will journey to China for the Hangzhou Asian Games later this month with the goal of winning gold. The teams headed by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Harmanpreet Kaur will participate in training sessions in Bengaluru beginning the next week.

The timetables for the training camps for the men’s and women’s teams will be different, hence the length of the camp for the men’s team will be different from that for the Women in Blue.

Due to the Covid crisis in China, the Asian Games were postponed to 2023 for the uninitiated, and the most recent edition will be held from September 23 to October 8 this year.

According to a source, NCA president VVS Laxman is expected to coach the Indian men’s squad, and the team under Gaikwad would train for two weeks from September 12 to 24 in Bengaluru. The women’s team, on the other hand, will participate in a shorter camp that runs from September 13 to September 16 and lasts only four days.

According to a person familiar with the situation, “This camp will be valuable for many players who will be gaining experience in a multi-sport competition like the Asian Games.”

As a result of Harmanpreet and Company’s departure for China on September 17 and the men’s cricket tournament starting sooner than the women’s, their camp was only brief. The women’s camp’s development will be under the direction of Hrishikesh Kanitkar.

The men’s cricket tournament will begin on September 26 and go until October 8. The women’s bouts, on the other hand, will start on September 19 and end on September 28. The T20 format will be used for the whole men’s and women’s cricket tournament.

The Pingfeng Cricket Field at Zhejiang University of Technology will host all of the games. Harmanpreet’s team has been placed straight into the quarterfinals and will start playing on September 22 while the women’s tournament starts on September 19.

Due to stringent limitations on the number of athletes that will be permitted in the Games Village, it is unlikely that any extra members or standby players would go with both teams.

The additional people that traveled with the women’s teams were difficult for the organizers to accommodate at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, so they were forced to stay in private hotels. Both the men’s and women’s teams have five players waiting in the wings.

Men’s India team members include Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dube, and Prabhsimran Singh (wk), in addition to their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad.

India women’s squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Devika Vaidya, Anjali Sarvani, Titas Sadhu, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Minnu Mani, Kanika Ahuja, Uma Chetry (wk), Anusha Bareddy.
