Brave Approach, Positive Attitude: Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel’s Catchphrases

Throughout the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav have been leading the heavy lifting for their Delhi Capitals (DC) side. While Kuldeep has been among the wickets (10 scalps in five games at an economy of 7.70), Axar has been bowling at a very excellent economy of less than seven while playing the right containing role.

The seasoned spinners have controlled the center of the field in a season when 200+ scores have been the standard. For Axar, the secret is in his attitude.

You see, it all comes down to mentality. I will undoubtedly give up runs if I approach the game believing that I will get hit for runs. During a selective media engagement, Axar said, “My only focus is on my bowling, what are my strengths and around what areas do I need to bowl?” while the opposition is scoring runs quickly.

The left-arm spinner continues, “Going in with the right attitude and a mindset of attack has been crucial to my success in the IPL 2024 thus far.”

“I just maintain my optimism and approach the situation with an aggressive attitude. When I enter the attack, the hitters need to have the idea that I’m not under any kind of pressure. Body language and a player’s attitude are very important. In addition, I just strive to carry out my strategy,” he said.

“Teams hoping to capitalize on a powerplay”

Many powerplay records were broken during the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs. Delhi Capitals match. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, the opening pair for the SRH, scored 125/0 in the first six overs before putting up a partnership of 131 in only 6.2 overs.

With a final score of 266/7 in 20 overs, the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers team crossed the 250-run threshold for the third time. All clubs have benefited from the Impact Player, who has typically increased batting depth, but they have also chosen to play very aggressively during powerplay overs.

According to DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav, bowlers must exhibit extreme bravery during the powerplay as teams have been attempting to bat freely.

“I believe that since the middle overs of the game are a little sluggish, the teams are trying to attack during the Powerplay overs. So, in the first six overs, both sides are attempting to gain as much advantage as possible. Simply said, I think that because of how the T20 format has changed, bowlers should have more guts. Previously, this wasn’t the case. In the Powerplay overs, the teams used to aim for 40–50, but that is no longer the case, he said.

The left-hander says that while the spinner praises the hitters for their powerplay efforts, the bowlers also have a responsibility to support their advantages.

“Secondly, I believe that rather than actually keeping to their strengths, the bowlers are bowling in accordance with what the batsmen are likely to do. “I think it’s crucial that bowlers recognize their strengths and support themselves,” Kuldeep said.

Kuldeep was full of admiration for his India colleague Jasprit Bumrah, despite the fact that bowlers from all countries have been struggling. The Chinaman praised the speedster of the Mumbai Indians for always supporting his advantages.

“I’ve only seen two or three bowlers that have confidence in their own skills. Bowler Jasprit Bumrah is one such player. The manner he is bowling indicates that he is playing to his strengths, which puts the batsmen off balance. Yadav said that “he is definitely ahead of the batters.”

“It’s okay to get hit on good deliveries.”

In the encounter against the Sunrisers, Kuldeep was hammered for 55 runs in 4 overs, but he also claimed 4 wickets. On that specific day, the batsmen took him on, but the left-arm spinner stuck to his game plan and bowled in good length areas, ultimately picking up three of the four wickets he faced.

Bringing up the IPL. The bowler now has to stay one step ahead of the hitters in this altered version of the game. Aap plan pe stick karte hai, koi achi ball pe runs maare. Some excellent deliveries were made to me (during the game versus SRH). Kuldeep said, “Abhishek Sharma batted pretty well.

Rishabh Pant will hope that Axar and Kuldeep, who have been the cornerstones of the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack this season, continue to show bravery in their team’s second encounter against the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
