Brian Lara asks, “Would he like to bat higher?” after Dhoni’s 28-ball nine

Brian Lara, a West Indies star, has observed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the previous captain of the Chennai Super Kings, bats in the No. 7-8 position and prefers not to bat higher in order to provide younger players with the chance to succeed at the highest level.

Lara discussed his opinion on MS Dhoni’s batting against the Lucknow Super Giants in an exclusive interview with Star Sports Cricket Live. On Friday night, at the Ekana Stadium, the former skipper of CSK scored 176/6 in 20 overs with a hammering of 9 balls without a loss.

Nevertheless, despite Dhoni’s appearance, CSK lost because K.L. Rahul (82) and Quinton de Kock (54) combined for 134 runs in the first over to lead LSG to an eight-wicket win.

Dhoni’s knock was excellent, according to Lara. It’s just outstanding. It is necessary to ask: Would you want to bat higher? because it’s evident that he’s contributing much. However, there are also a few losing causes. Thus, I believe it need to be taken into account,” he said.

From the perspective of the squad, he is probably thinking at 42 that the younger players need to step up and do the job. But I believe that too much of CSK’s batting was revealed in the midst of the innings. And that led to the situation where, despite his last explosion and Dhoni move, it was still insufficient, according to Lara.

The legendary player from the West Indies said that CSK would need to start again and be a little bit more aggressive throughout the innings.

“I believe they will need to start again from scratch. They understand that during the inning, they need to be a little bit more active. You have the guy to come because of this on the rear end. And if, like he did against the Mumbai Indians, he is given two or three overs. and helped them surpass 200. They must always consider it,” he said.

In an exclusive interview with Star Sports Cricket Live, Lara discussed his feelings on Dhoni’s batting moments and the crowds who surround him at every CSK game.

That is the most amazing aspect of the game. I’ve said it many times: you never know when a 42-year-old great or idol in the game who has participated in the Indian Premier League for a long time may decide to call it quits. When he bats, I believe it will be a moment to remember and that everyone will feel ecstatic. There will be a lot of emotions involved, but he leaves and takes care of business.

“And at forty-two, you’re thinking, let’s plan. This player is going out there, putting runs on the board, perhaps off the back of some bad batting or partnerships, so we need to put him in a position where we can win games.

He’s in a difficult situation right now since he probably enjoys what he does. The gloves are in his hands, and he is forty-two. He is batting at seven or eight, and in the five or ten balls that he has faced, he is contributing. He may not even need to look to say, “Listen, I might need to move up in the order because I might need a few more runs.” He has now batted five or six times without losing. Any squad that is scheming would thus say, “Of course you have to go up.” However, I doubt he will,” Lara said to Star Sports.

Dhoni’s running between the wickets and fitness were again complimented by Lara.

He’s still going strong, therefore let’s make sure he plays for CSK in every IPL game this season. However, he is aware of the circumstances and knows that the matchup is ideal for him when he runs between the wickets. And when you look at the counter, you’ll see that there are two umpires, eleven fielders, a bowler, and several supporters, all of whom seem to be watching him hit the ball. Fielders diving to his left and fielders staring at his head both fail to make contact with the ball. It’s exclusively his program. It’s simply so well planned,” Lara said.
