Chandigarh boys win the Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament against Punjab Police

In the first game of the fifth edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament at No. 3 Base Repair Depot (BRD) Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Stadium, the Chandigarh XI lads defeated Punjab Police 5-3 to get off to a winning start.

When Kanwarjit Singh sounded the wooden board in the tenth minute, the Punjab Police squad took the lead. But Parvinder Singh of Chandigarh, who scored the equalizer in the 19th minute, cut their happiness short. Sehajbir Singh’s penalty corner goal put the police side up by one goal again in the very next minute.

The 22nd minute saw the city boys strike back, bringing the scores back to even. Once again, Parvinder was heavily involved in the game and scored the team’s second goal. The local team benefited from this goal as Maninder Singh’s goal in the 25th minute put Chandigarh up 2-3.

After controlling the ball for some time, the Punjab Police boys rallied with a brilliant goal from Pawandeep Singh in the 45th minute. Nevertheless, Chandigarh managed to secure fill points from the first match thanks to two field goals from Harpanthpreet Singh (48th) and Maninder (60th).

The Indian Air Force (IAF), the hosts, defeated the Sri Lanka Air Force side 4-0 with ease. In the 23rd minute, team captain Sukhdev Singh started the score, then Lovedeep Singh scored a hat-trick in the 26th, 34th, and 46th minutes to give the team an easy victory.

In an exciting game, Punjab & Sind Bank (PSB) defeated Indian Railways 10-4 on the road. With goals from Deepak (9th) and Aditya Singh (18th), the Railways team led by two goals. To tie the score, Rajinder Singh of the PSB scored a brace on the 19th and 23rd. With a goal from Pratap Lakra (35th) and a second from Aditya (42nd), the Railways took the lead once again.

After that, the PSB boys took control of the game and won it thanks to one goal from Rajinder (43rd) and three goals from Jaskrana Singh (47th, 50th, and 59th). Bangladesh Air Force and the Railways Coach Factory squad played to a 4-4 tie.
