Chandigarh: St. Kabir cricketers win crowns, and Strawberry Fields cagers

The winners of the first Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament and the sixth Amanjit Memorial T20 Inter-School Cricket Tournament were Strawberry Fields High School (SFHS), located in Sector 26, and St. Kabir School, located in Sector 26.

The SFHS ladies defeated Yadavindra Public School (YPS), the hosts, 48–46 in the basketball competition final to take home the trophy. Samaira Chadha of the SFHS was deemed the most promising player of the competition, while Nimar Sehdev was crowned the player of the tournament after she scored 78 points overall for the hosts.

Saupin’s School, Sector 32, lost against St. Kabir School in cricket by a score of four runs. The Sector 26 squad, batting first, scored 95/3 in 15 overs. Saupin’s boys could respond with 91/7 in the 15 overs they were allowed.

Saupin’s School upset the hosts by seven wickets earlier in the semifinals. The Mohali school team scored 107/4 when batting first, followed by the Chandigarh squad with 108/3. St. Kabir defeated St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45, by 46 runs in the other semifinal.

Shivraj Singh Sekhon was named player of the tournament, Anurag Budhwar was named man of the match, Arjun Dadwal was named best wicketkeeper, Anurag Budhwar was named best batter, Daanek Singh was named best bowler, and Ayaan Srivastava was named most promising player.
