Cricket Australia Has Intends to Organize Future India-Pakistan Bilateral Series: Sources

If the BCCI and PCB agree to matchups between the two sides in the future, Cricket Australia (CA) has shown interest in hosting a bilateral series between India and Pakistan, according to sources.

India and Pakistan only play each other in international ICC tournaments like World Cups and the Champions Trophy; they haven’t played a bilateral series since 2012–13.

Cricket Australia (CA) released the international calendar for November, which will see the two Asian countries in Australia at the same time. Pakistan will play three ODI matches and three Twenty20 matches before India arrives for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, which begins on November 22.

CA cricket operations manager Peter Roach reportedly said on Tuesday, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, that the national organization would be thrilled to host a match between India and Pakistan and would keep expressing interest to the boards of both nations.

Every nation in the globe would want to see India and Pakistan participate there, according to Roach. “Going forward, we’re always interested in opportunities for matches and content that will engage our fans,” Roach said.

We have officially said that we are among the nations that have posed the inquiry. Right now, there isn’t enough time in the schedules to do that, but we will continue to discuss any future chances with them. However, in this particular instance, the timetable won’t be altered,” he said.

Over 90,000 people attended a T20 World Cup match between competing countries at the MCG in 2022, and tickets sold out in five minutes. In a similar vein, an Adelaide match in 2015 was also in great demand. It’s possible that ideas that Australia would make a perfect neutral site for upcoming Pakistan-India matches were sparked by this desire.

Additionally, CA CEO Nick Hockley reaffirmed the company’s intention to arrange a bilateral series with the two Asian countries.

“Anyone who saw the India-Pakistan match at the MCG, in my opinion, will remember it as one of the most remarkable events they have ever attended—not just a sports one. If we ever had the chance, we would be thrilled to host it. We would love to play a part, if we are able to.

“We can’t wait to welcome Pakistan. We can’t wait to welcome India. It would be fantastic if we could assist. However, I believe that to be a bilateral series in many aspects. It truly is up to others to make it happen,” ESPNCricinfo cited him as saying.
