CSK isn’t operating at full capacity: Fleming is still looking for the ideal blend

LSG defeated CSK twice in a span of four days. On Tuesday, April 23, Chennai lost a thrilling match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, after their defeat in their first match against LSG at the Ekana Stadium. Marcus Stoinis, an Australian all-rounder who hit 124* off only 63 balls to demolish a venue record of 211 runs, was the driving force behind LSG’s pursuit.

During the news conference, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming contended that the squad had not been performing to its full potential. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, was the team’s shining light of the day, scoring 108* off of only 60 balls. Shivam Dube, who scored an incredible 66 off only 27 balls, joined Gaikwad in helping the hosts establish an enormous target. That was insufficient, however, as Stoinis helped LSG blow the score out with three balls remaining.

“Ruturaj demonstrated it today; maybe he can maintain his form and the others will be able to take it up… By no means are we playing at full capacity, but we are in every game and we expect opponents to perform well in order to defeat us. At the news conference after the game, Fleming said, “We just need to get a little bit better.”

The coach also discussed getting ready to identify the ideal lineup with Mustafizur Rahman’s departure drawing near. The left-armer will have to leave the Indian Premier League on May 1st since the Bangladesh Cricket Board has not extended the pacer’s notice of completion.

“We’ve got another change coming up with Mustafizur [leaving] in a couple of games,” Fleming said. We’re simply attempting to be ready and find a team that will help us win the game. We’ve had injuries and some unease, but having players in vital positions and in form is the most important thing. That sometimes takes some time. Indeed, there have been more changes; some were imposed upon us, and others are structural,” Fleming said.
