Du Plessis and Curran were fined for violating the IPL Code of Conduct

The Indian Premier League (IPL) stated on Monday that Punjab Kings captain Salman Khan has been fined 50% of his match costs and Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf Du Plessis has been fined Rs 12 lakh for their respective offenses.

In Sunday’s exciting one-run defeat to the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, RCB’s sixth of the current season, Du Plessis was fined for keeping a sluggish over rate.

“Mr Faf du Plessis, Captain, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 36 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, 2024,” a statement from the IPL said.

It was the season’s first over-rate offense for RCB.

Contrarily, Curran was fined half of his match costs for a Level 1 violation of “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision” during PBKS’s Sunday three-wicket defeat to Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur, as stated in Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

According to IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.8, Curran committed a Level 1 offense. He took the match referee’s punishment after acknowledging his wrongdoing. The Match Referee’s ruling is definitive and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, according to an IPL press release.

Punjab presently sits in ninth position in the points standings after suffering their fourth straight defeat to GT.
