Due to an injury, Hardik Pandya will not play in the World Cup, Prasidh Krishna will start for India
Due to his ankle injury, star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the current World Cup on Saturday.
The Indian team has picked pacer Prasidh Krishna, who has participated in 17 One-Day Internationals, as Pandya’s substitute, the ICC said in a press statement.
On October 19, while fielding his own bowling in the match against Bangladesh in Pune, Pandya suffered a left ankle injury.
He did not play in the next three matches against Sri Lanka, England, and New Zealand.
Before a player is formally added to the team, the Event Technical Committee must provide its consent for the replacement.
Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager – Cricket and ETC Chair), Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Hemang Amin (Acting CEO – BCCI), Gaurav Saxena (General Manager – Operations, BCCI), Russell Arnold, and Simon Doull (Independent Representatives) make up the Event Technical Committee for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
