England selects a young Rehan Ahmed for the second test against Australia in the Ashes 2023

The cricket board (ECB) of England announced on Friday that spinner Rehan Ahmed has been added to the Ashes team for the second test against Australia at Lord’s the following week as a replacement for Moeen Ali, who sustained a finger injury in the first game.

When England defeated Pakistan in December 2022 at Karachi, Ahmed, 18, made his test debut. He took five wickets, making him the youngest bowler in men’s test history to do so.

Australia, who won the first test by a margin of two wickets at Edgbaston earlier this week, is now leading the series 1-0 as the second test gets underway on Wednesday.

Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonathan Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, and Mark Wood make up the England team, which is led by skipper Ben Stokes.
