“Exciting Times Ahead For The World Cup”: Commenting On The India vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 Game

Following their triple confrontation last year, India and Pakistan, the bitter rivals, will square off in a high-stakes match on June 9 at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in New York.

Three thrilling ODI matches between India and Pakistan were place in 2023: two at the Asia Cup and one in India during the ODI World Cup. In the continental competition, the Rohit Sharma-led team won two games and had a rain-related washout in the other.

Australia great Ricky Ponting voiced his enthusiasm ahead of the impending T20 spectacle for the first-ever match between India and Pakistan in the US.

Since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, India and Pakistan have had tense bilateral ties; as a result, they only play each other in multi-nation competitions organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

“I witnessed it personally in Melbourne, Australia the previous time, with 95,000 spectators inside the stadium and an additional 50,000 outside,” Ponting said on ICC Review.

“You can envision what New York will experience. Thus, the globe game is in for a tremendously interesting period,” he said.

According to Ponting, the meeting in New York will serve as a springboard for the game’s expansion around the globe, since it now only has a limited presence outside of the subcontinent.

“I believe that region of the globe offers a fantastic chance for the game to develop further and be promoted. And to be a part of that kind of endeavor to expand the game in the US is a major reason I accepted the coaching position at Washington Freedom “added the man.

“We know that they will continue to promote the game since there are so many expat Indians, West Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, and Afghans in that region of the globe. However, we must educate and enlighten Americans about the virtues of cricket.”

According to Ponting, “I’d like to think it can become really big and as I said, actually become really big pretty quickly.”

The USA vs. Canada match in Texas on June 2 is the first match of the T20 World Cup 2024.
