Greater than fours: Sai Kishore bemoans flurry of boundaries after GT’s defeat by DC

In Wednesday, April 24, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, DC faced GT in their IPL 2024 matchup. According to Sai Kishore, the combination of Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel won the match for Delhi. The Capitals were restricted to 44 for 3 on the powerplay after being asked to bat first. But the hosts rallied handsomely thanks to 113 runs for the fourth wicket off 11.2 overs from Pant and Axar.

Axar, batting at number three, amassed 66 runs off 43 balls while hitting five fours and four sixes before being removed by Noor Ahmad. However, Pant looked threatening after hitting eight sixes and five fours his way to an undefeated forty-three off forty-three balls.

DC reached 224 for 4 after scoring 97 runs in the last five overs. The rush of boundaries in the last overs, according to Kishore, stole the game away from the Titans.

“Pant and Axar played excellent bat. Rishabh made plenty of boundaries off excellent balls, including many fours as well as sixes. That gave them the upper hand, and we let up more sixes than fours in the last two or three overs, which caused the game to go out of control, Kishore said at the press conference after the game.

“Everyone had faith”
Kishore said that GT maintained optimism for a victory in spite of the enormous aim. The visitors lost the game by four runs despite running DC close. Rashid Khan smashed two fours and a six off Mukesh Kumar with 19 runs required in the last over, but he was unable to help his side over the finish line.

“We would have had a dominating position with a victory. But everyone’s confidence is what makes this squad the greatest. Everyone thought we could pull this off, even in a pursuit like this. This team has been constructed around it, said Kishore.

Despite the setback, the Titans remain in seventh place in the standings with 8 points and a -0.974 net run rate, having won 4 of their previous 9 games.
