Hrithik Shokeen of the Mumbai Indians is featured in a video that is a masterclass at fielding

Spinner Hrithik Shokeen is one of several young talents that Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL winners, have shown over the years.

Shokeen was seen in a recent video posted on MI’s official Instagram page picking Mumbai’s strength and conditioning coach Paul Chapman’s brain on some fielding fundamentals. The 22-year-old cricketer practiced his placement and reflexes while trying some challenging catches.

Along with keeping a close check on Shokeen, Chapman also made an effort to boost his self-esteem by encouraging him. Chapman was observed yanking Shokeen’s leg during practice, demonstrating the two of them had a strong relationship.

The first scene of the video shows Paul Chapman instructing Shokeen in a training session in the evening.

Shokeen misread the ball’s direction during one attempt, and Chapman emphasized the first need for a good take by stating, “You have got to watch the ball.”

On the second attempt, a calmer Shokeen pursued and boldly caught the ball.

Chapman clearly said Rule No. 1 in the video, but the Mumbai franchise added Rule No. 2 in the caption: “Rule No. 2: Always listen to Chappie.”

Massive interest in the video came from Mumbai fans. Shokeen received a lot of acclaim for his attention to detail, and the youthful offspinner was referred to be “the future of Mumbai Indians.”

After getting into a verbal altercation with Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana during a group match of the just finished IPL, Shokeen received a lot of backlash.

After Shokeen’s brilliant delivery trapped Rana for a catch at long-on, the incident happened.

Shokeen approached his senior Delhi colleague and spoke a few things as Rana was leaving the crease. Suryakumar Yadav had to step in to separate the two payers as things became heated.

It’s interesting to note that Shokeen finished the game with his best IPL bowling stats of 2/34.

Shokeen was acquired by MI in the IPL 2022 super auction for Rs 20 lakh.

The Delhi spinner has made 13 appearances for Mumbai so far, taking 5 wickets overall at an incredible average of 62.80.
