“I Am Not Struggling”: Cricket fans are proud of Virat Kohli’s self-aware perspective on sacrifices

Legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli recently shared his thoughts on the meaning of difficulty, highlighting how the current age often glorifies effort as a kind of battle. The 35-year-old Kohli said that he would rather not use words like “struggle” or “sacrifice,” adding that he is just following his passion. To be honest, I can’t use terms like hardship and sacrifice when I’m in this situation. There hasn’t been any sacrifice or difficulty for me. During a talk program, Kohli told presenter Gaurav Kapoor, “I am doing what I love.”

Extending his point of view, Kohli pointed out that those who are deprived of fundamental essentials like regular meals experience actual suffering. Although he acknowledged that laborious efforts may be romanticized as hardship, he emphasized the need to support one’s family.

“Tough times are coming, but we must persevere in order to achieve our goals.” Even if you work hard and achieve greatness, you still have to provide for your family. You may not be able to work out regularly, but you still have to go to the gym. The one who struggles is the one who doesn’t eat two square meals in a day. No one is pushing you to go to the gym, but you have to feed your family. You may put a cherry on top and celebrate your hard work by calling it a struggle,” he said.

The former Indian captain was thankful for his present role and acknowledged that his personal concerns paled in comparison to the real struggles that others face. I’m simply thankful that I get to do what I’ve always wanted to do. In fact, I am in a fortunate situation. My career is playing a sport. It’s not done if you really consider the actual issues that individuals deal with on a daily basis. He drew cheers from the crowd when he said, “You can’t compare getting out in a test series to someone who doesn’t have a roof in his house.”

Despite the team’s difficulties, the right-handed batter is having a great time playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Twenty24 Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), finishing as the top run scorer in the competition.
