India maintains its dominance in Kabaddi at the Asian Games, defeating Thailand 63–26

In a Group A match on Wednesday in the men’s kabaddi category at the Asian Games, seven-time champions India destroyed Thailand 63-26.

The Indian men’s team, which had dropped to a bronze medal in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, was aiming to win back its gold medal and held a commanding 37-9 lead into halftime.

Within the opening few minutes of the competition, India took little time to inflict the first “all-out” on Thailand.

India quickly gained ground in the attack before engaging the last Thai arrival to compel a second “all-out.”

As India suffered a third “all-out” just before halftime, Pramot Saising—the last player to enter for Thailand—went for the raid but was knocked down.

India maintained their dominance in the second half and forced Thailand into another “all-out” to gain a 53-17 advantage.

As India proceeded to widen its advantage in the second half, the Thai players again failed in their raids.

However, Thailand had some grit in the second half as India won it 26-17 to end the game.

The Indian men’s team defeated Bangladesh on Tuesday with a decisive 55-18 victory.

In their second Group A match, the women’s team defeated South Korea 56–23.

Chinese Taipei unexpectedly held the silver medal-winning Indian ladies to a 34-34 tie in their first game on Monday.

Later on in the day, the Indian women’s team will play Thailand in another group encounter.

India is placed in Group A of the men’s competition with Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Japan.

Group B is composed of Iran, Korea, Pakistan, and Malaysia.

The ladies from India are grouped with those from Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and South Korea.
