India vs. South Africa: Internet splits over Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s DRS discussion during the second test due to “wrong” language

The Indian cricket team opted to deploy their resources with three reviews left and just one wicket left, even though they knew the outcome was unlikely to go their way. On Day 2 of the second Test in Cape Town, Mohammed Siraj struck South Africa’s Nandre Burger high on the right, but the umpire showed little desire to grant Team India’s appeal. After a quick conversation with colleagues, Rohit considered seeking a review after realizing that India had three DRS calls remaining, but ultimately opted against it.

In response to Siraj’s request for a catch at the short square leg position, none of the Indian players seemed very enthusiastic. Even though there was very little possibility that the umpire would rule in India’s favor, Rohit felt it was OK to accept the DRS. Ultimately, however, the captain of India failed to signal for DRS.

Rohit Sharma:”I think I should take the review (followed by a series of slang), we still have three remaining”

Virat Kohli: “Yes, please accept. There could have been insider information.

When Rohit discussed the choice to use DRS, his social media fans were divided, especially over the words he used.

After South Africa was finally bowled out for 176, India emerged victorious, led by century-hitting Aiden Markram. India needed only 12 overs to finish the run chase and even the series at one after setting a goal of 79 runs.

“A fantastic accomplishment. We have to use the lessons we learned from our errors in the Test in Centurion. With the exception of our bowlers, we returned really well. You go to put the ball in the appropriate places even if the batting circumstances are difficult. The lads were rewarded for having ideas on what we intended to accomplish. We put forth a lot of effort and played excellent batting to build a 100-run advantage; the last six wickets were disappointing. After the shortest Test match in history, Rohit said, “We knew it was going to be a short game, we knew every run matters, to get that first innings lead was very important for us.”
