Indian men’s 4x100m medley breaks national record to go to final at the Asian Games in swimming

The Indian men’s 4×100 medley relay team swam an incredible heat, shattering the national record, to get to the Asian Games final on Tuesday in Hangzhou (China).

In heat 1, the group of Srihari Nataraj, Likhith Selvaraj, Sajan Prakash, and Tanish George Mathew finished last after clocking a time of 3:40.84.

They beat the 3:44.94 national record that Nataraj, Sandeep Sejwal, Prakash, and Aaron D’Souza had previously achieved in the Jakarta Games.

Their fourth-place overall result allowed them to progress to the final, which would take place later in the day.

Palak Joshi and Shivangi Sarma, the other two Indian swimmers participating that day, were unable to advance to the finals of their respective events.

Shivangi placed 17th in the women’s 100-meter freestyle competition, while Palak placed 14 among 19 competitors in the women’s 200-meter backstroke (58.31) in 2:25.81.
