Inter suffer their first season loss against Sassuolo in Serie A, but Osimhen saves Napoli

On Wednesday, Inter Milan suffered their first loss of the Serie A campaign, falling to Sassuolo 2-1 at home, while controversial striker Victor Osimhen shone for Napoli despite an apparent falling out with the league leaders.

Denzel Dumfries’ goal just before halftime at the San Siro gave Inter, who had a pristine record of five victories in a row, a 1-0 lead and the game in hand.

Nedim Bajrami scored a long-range goal for Sassuolo in the 54th minute, surprising goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Ten minutes later, Domenico Berardi scored the game-winning goal, giving Sassuolo all three points to build on their victory against Juventus the previous week.

Due to goal differential, Inter continues to lead the standings ahead of AC Milan, who earlier beat Cagliari 3-1.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi stated, “After a terrific first period when we should have scored more than one goal, but we lost our attention particularly after the equalizer.

Even if our next game is on Saturday and we don’t really have time to reflect after losing in front of our home fans, we still need to comprehend what occurred.

Osimhen played a key part in Napoli’s 4-1 victory against Udinese after the champions suffered a loss and two draws.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ended a lengthy goalless streak by scoring in the second half, giving the Nigerian striker his fourth goal of the year after 39 minutes.

Osimhen, who finished first in scoring in Serie A last season, made headlines over the weekend when he expressed his annoyance at being substituted by coach Rudy Garcia in the 0-0 draw with Bologna.

On Tuesday, his attorney threatened legal action against Napoli for posting a video on the team’s TikTok account ridiculing the striker for missing a penalty in that match. The video has since been removed.

Osimhen deleted images of himself wearing Napoli gear from his personal social media accounts, fueling rumors that he may want a transfer during the next transfer window.

Garcia stated, “I have a great connection with Victor.

The fact that he scored today makes me thrilled for him. We were all furious and outraged after the game in Bologna, Victor in especially since he missed the penalty.

“There have been a lot of things to manage in recent days on the sporting aspect and on other levels, especially on TikTok,” said Garcia.

However, I can guarantee you that Victor adores this shirt and is fully committed to our cause.

With 11 points, Napoli is now fifth in the standings, four points behind the two Milan teams.
