IPL 2024: Harbhajan Singh on the defeat of KKR by RCB

Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian spinner, believes that Dinesh Karthik’s inability to rotate strikes at the conclusion of the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders was a major factor in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s loss. In the IPL 2024 match, KKR defeated RCB by a mere run.

Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar got RCB back into the game after Virat Kohli was removed. Against KKR in the IPL 2024 encounter, the pair milked 102 runs.

Dinesh Karthik and Karn Sharma were at the crease in the nineteenth over, but Karthik would not accept a single on three deliveries. After that, he hit a six and a four before Andre Russell’s over ended with him out of the game.

In the last over of the match, Karn Sharma hit three maximums off of KKR’s leading bowler, Mitchell Starc. But in the end, RCB’s pursuit of 223 ran out by one run.

“In my opinion, DK was a crucial player in this game. Karthik missed two or three singles during their batting innings, and I believe it proved costly for the Royals as Karn (Sharma) stepped in and hit three sixes. Perhaps things wouldn’t have happened the way they did if he had chosen the singles. It took them only one run; little things add up. At that moment, you feel like you want to complete the game, and Karthik can do it. On his YouTube channel, Harbhajan said, “But when you lose the game, you remember these kinds of things, and I feel like Karthik would consider taking that single.”

IPL 2024 match summary: Faf Du Plessis, the captain of RCB, won the toss and chose to field first. With seven fours and three sixes in his blistering 48-ball innings, Phil Salt gave the two-time winners some additional runs during the powerplay.

While wickets kept falling from the other end, they managed to reach 222/6 in their 20 overs thanks to the contributions of captain Shreyas Iyer (50 in 36 balls, seven fours and a six), Rinku Singh (24 in 16 balls, two fours and a six), Andre Russell (27* in 20 balls, four boundaries), and Ramandeep Singh (24* in nine balls, two fours and two sixes).

Virat Kohli (18) and Faf Du Plessis (7) were lost early by RCB. RCB was able to recover thanks to a 102-run partnership between Will Jacks (55 in 32 balls, four boundaries and five sixes) and Rajat Patidar (52 in 23 balls, three fours and five sixes). However, they were unable to secure the victory for RCB.
