IPL 2024: KL Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad Face 12 Lakh Fines Each for Slow Over-Rate During LSG vs. CSK

Lucknow: The Indian Premier League (IPL) Disciplinary Committee fined captain Ruturaj Gaikwad of the Lucknow Super Giants and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad of the Chennai Super Kings Rs 12 lakh each for keeping a slow over-rate during their match on Friday night at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 announced early on Saturday that K.L. Rahul, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, has been punished for his team’s sluggish over-rate in Match 34 versus the Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

Rahul was fined Rs 12 lakh since it was his team’s first offense of the season in relation to minimum over-rate offenses under the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

Gaikwad was also subjected to the same penalty.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad, captain of the Chennai Super Kings, was fined for his team’s sluggish over-rate against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

“Gaikwad was fined Rs 12 lakh as it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences,” the statement said.

In the most successful run chase at Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets thanks to a batting masterpiece between Rahul (82) and Quinton de Kock (54).

Following a masterful 28-ball innings from M.S. Dhoni, which helped CSK to a respectable 176/6 in 20 overs, Rahul and de Kock’s combination made sure that LSG roared to 180/2 in 19 overs, winning the match by eight wickets.
