IPL 2024 | Suryakumar spoke candidly about his fitness, saying, “It is going really well, I am almost there”

Key batsman Suryakumar Yadav of the Mumbai Indians gave an update on his health after his incredible 78-run innings against the Punjab Kings on Thursday in the IPL 2024.

Once again, PBKS led to the last over of the game but was unable to win. In the IPL 2024 match against MI, Ashutosh Sharma dazzled everyone with his skillful showing.

Suryakumar made a comeback to play during the IPL 2024 match against the Delhi Capitals after his ankle surgery recovery. He had surgery to treat his sports hernia and ankle. He was unable to play in the Afghanistan series, which was India’s last Twenty20 international series before the T20 World Cup in 2024, because of his operations.

Surya revealed his fitness during the mid-innings interview, saying, “It is going really well, I am almost there, I have started fielding; I am also training well so slow and steady, hoping that all 40 overs I will be on the ground.” Surya was instrumental in PBKS’s demise.

Suryakumar has played in four matches in the IPL 2024 thus far, recording two ducks and two fifties.

Regarding his performance, Surya said, “That teaches you there are ups and downs in life.”

Instead of using the usual slam-bang approach, Surya took his time and opened his arms. The powerful right-hand hitter discussed his strategy and if the management had given him any specific instructions.

Not so much as there was conversation. We thought from our net practice that the wicket would be a bit tricky to score large runs on the board, so we held a batters meeting the previous day and decided that one batsman would have to bat for at least 15 to 17 overs. But all I wanted to do was be myself. I took a little longer today, and after Rohit was out, someone had to bat a little bit longer. I simply kept batting the way I do,” Surya said.

Recap: The Mumbai Indians defeated the Punjab Kings by nine runs because to the outstanding 78-run effort from Surya Kumar Yadav, as well as the significant periods of ace quick Jasprit Bumrah (3/21) and Coetzee (3/32).

After Suryakumar Yadav’s 78 helped the visitors reach 192/7, MI withstood an incredible Ashutosh (61 off 28) blitz.
