IPL2024: KL Rahul of LSG and Ruturaj Gaikwad of CSK were fined Rs 12 lakh each for sluggish over rates
KL Rahul, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, were both fined Rs 12 lakh for their teams’ sluggish over rates during their Indian Premier League encounter.
Friday’s encounter at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium saw LSG defeat CSK, the reigning champions, by eight wickets while playing at home.
Rahul and Ruturaj each received a 12 lakh punishment since it was the team’s first offense of the season in relation to minimum over-rate offenses under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, according to an IPL statement.

Openers Rahul and Quinton de Kock led LSG to a convincing victory against CSK with a chasing masterclass after making elegant fifties on a sluggish track.
When CSK was asked to bat first, Ravindra Jadeja responded with a strong, undefeated fifty-seven, followed by sixes from Moeen Ali (30 off 20) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (28 off 9) to lift CSK to a formidable 176 for six.
Rahul (82) and De Kock (54) played well in response as LSG recovered from consecutive losses to secure their place in the standings with a match-winning combination of 134, the greatest partnership for any wicket at the Ekana Stadium. LSG reached 180 for 2 in 19 overs.
On the other side, CSK, who entered the game with two victories, suffered their third IPL defeat.
