Is VVS Laxman Ready to Lead: Who Will Be India’s Future Cricket Coach?

According to reports, Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, has decided not to renew his contract. The deal ended after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Insiders with knowledge of the issue claim that Dravid is not interested in having his contract renewed and is reportedly in talks to become the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

There has been conjecture that Dravid would accept the mentorship role at LSG if he chooses not to continue with the national squad. Presently heading the National Cricket Academy, VVS Laxman seems to be the front-runner to take over as coach after Dravid. After the India vs. Australia T20I series concludes, Laxman, who is now in charge of the Indian team’s coaching duties in Dravid’s absence, may take over as head coach permanently.

It is hinted by sources that a meeting to debate and discuss future coaching arrangements and the overall direction of the Indian cricket team is in the works. All relevant parties are anticipated to attend the discussion, which aims to set the direction for the team’s future coaching staff and tactics.
