Jasprit Bumrah Receives This Advice From A Former Team India Coach

After being off from the pitch for 11 months, Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah made his comeback in the first T20I against Ireland by taking two wickets in quick succession. Bumrah represented India in the T2OI match against Ireland after undergoing successful back surgery in New Zealand. According to speculations, Bumrah will rejoin Team India for the 2023 ODI World Cup and Asia Cup.

Greg Chappell, a former coach of India, advised Bumrah to focus on ‘one ball at a time’ rather than just anticipating the result.

“It is quite similar to Virat’s. He must organize his thoughts and go slowly. He seems to be quite intelligent based on what I have seen of him. He’ll have to organize the situation for himself. One ball at a time, please. not to dwell too much on potential outcomes. It’s crucial to understand that ball is over and done with if he attempts to score a boundary. During an interview with RevSportz, Chappell said that the player needed to get away from it and concentrate on the next ball.

The Australian also recommended that the Indian pacer improve on his mental fitness, which would help him rediscover his form for the key competitions.

“Comebacks are difficult. Your performance may suffer if you continue to think about your injury. You must release your thoughts as a result. He would do really well for India if he can do that and psychologically revert to the bowler he once was, the expert noted.

In the cricket action, Team India, under the leadership of Bumrah, leads the three-match series against Ireland, 1-0. On Sunday, the second T20I will be played.
