KL Rahul Removes His Cap in Honor of MS Dhoni and Shakes Hands with Legend

The Friday game between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was simply another example of how insane the fans’ devotion to MS Dhoni is. The CSK supporters gathered at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, giving the impression that the game was being played in Chepauk, Chennai.

When Dhoni came out to bat in the eighteenth over, the supporters went wild. He produced a stunning inning, much to the overwhelming delight of the sold-out yellow-clad audience. With a strike rate of 311, the wicketkeeper-batter scored a rapid 28 runs in only 9 balls.

Following the eight-wicket victory against CSK, the players from both teams queued up for the traditional handshakes. But one specific incident between KL Rahul, the captain of the LSG, and MS Dhoni, the former captain of CSK, has drawn fans’ attention on social media.

KL Rahul removed his hat as a show of respect before shaking hands with the former Indian captain; the resulting video has since gone viral. Given that Rahul was wearing his cap when he shook hands with Ruturaj Gaikwad, the current captain of CSK, it is reasonable to believe that Dhoni was the recipient of the special greeting.

In addition, KL Rahul was named Man of the Match for his outstanding effort.

“A 160 would have satisfied me.” felt that the wicket was sluggish and had just enough grip. That would have been perfect—160–165. However, the bowlers feel frightened when MSD enters. The crowd was raucous, the bowlers were under pressure, and he struck those sixes because he had done it before, KL Rahul said.

Despite winning four games this season, LSG finished outside the top four, tied for third place with the Chennai Super Kings and fourth place with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
