LSG vs. CSK: Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul, the captains, were heavily fined for violating the IPL code of conduct

With a comfortable 8-wicket victory against the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday night, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got back on track. Once again, a classic MS Dhoni provided the crowd with plenty of entertainment as he powered CSK to 176/6 after a sluggish start by hitting 28 runs off just 9 balls after a fifty from Ravindra Jadeja. LSG captain KL Rahul responded by scoring 82 runs on his own to win the match and get his side back on track after two straight defeats.

But after the game was over, the captains of LSG and CSK were both reprimanded. The captains of the Indian Premier League, Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad, have been fined Rs 12 lakhs each for playing with a sluggish over-rate.

Gaikwad was disheartened by yet another defeat away from home.

Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed disappointment after CSK’s third defeat in their previous four road games. He thought his hitters could have produced a few more runs and exerted a little more effort.

“Considering the circumstances, we performed well with the bat and couldn’t have hoped for more. after the powerplay, we were unable to build on our early lead and were often losing wickets, Ruturaj Gaikwad said after the match’s post-mortem.
