Mohammed Shami, an injured fast bowler for India, has a successful heel surgery

Star bowler Mohammed Shami of the Indian cricket team gave a significant update on Monday, revealing that he has undergone surgery on his Achilles tendon. The right-arm pacer informed his followers of the news on X, previously known as Twitter. I just had a successful achilles tendon heel procedure! It will take some time for me to recover, but I’m eager to stand again.

Shami wrote on X, “#AchillesRecovery #HeelSurgery #RoadToRecovery.” After the ICC tournament, Shami was ruled out of the whole South Africa tour and missed the home T20I series against Australia. In addition, he did not play in the current Test series against England and did not attend the Afghanistan series either.

The 33-year-old last played for India in the ODI World Cup final against Australia in November. He is not participating in the upcoming five-match Test series against England. With only 7 matches played, the senior pacer emerged as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, having struck out 24 batsmen.

Despite playing in pain from landing problems, Shami—who took 24 wickets in India’s thrilling World Cup campaign—did not let it stop him from doing well.

According to the most recent information, he would not be participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. Since Shami oversaw the Gujarat Titans’ speed attack, this is a major setback for the team.

Shami was a major part of GT’s success in both seasons. The 33-year-old bowler had 20 wickets in 2022 and then an even better showing in the 2023 Indian Premier League, claiming 28 wickets at an average of 18.64. With the new ball, Shami was quite lethal.
