MS Dhoni forfeited millions of rupees. I even asked Sakshi. MSD makes a king-sized gesture as the bat sticker controversy gets more attention

Ahead of IPL 2024, MS Dhoni’s most recent bat decal is generating a lot of media attention. Seemingly gearing up for his cricketing farewell, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings is wearing ‘Prime Sports’ on his willow as a token of love, respect, and appreciation to everyone who has helped him along the road. The proprietor of the sportswear company, Paramjit Singh, praised Dhoni’s performance and summed it up as “Friendship No. 1.” Greats Adam Gilchrist and Michael Hussey were quite interested in Dhoni’s expression of gratitude, which traveled all the way to Australia.

Prime Sports is not the only business, however, that Dhoni has shown his love for. The proprietor of “Beat All Sports,” one of the largest sports manufacturing firms in India and the one who funded Dhoni’s first kit, Somi Kohli, has disclosed that the former captain of India did not charge a dime to wear the BAS logo during the 2019 World Cup. As you may remember, Dhoni had stickers for BAS and SS on his bat the whole time. This was, in fact, Dhoni’s last game wearing the Indian colors. Before the World Cup, however, Kohli said that Dhoni just did it out of sheer kindness and turned down all the financial rewards.

“Dhoni made no mention of cash. “Put your stickers on my bats and send them across,” was all he said. ‘You’re letting go of such a valuable deal,’ I attempted to persuade him. He renounced a deal worth lakhs of rupees. I asked for his mother, father, and wife, Sakshi. even shared with Paramjit from Ranchi and his CA. The day before the World Cup, they all went to his house. In a video that went viral on Twitter, Kohli said, “But he said, ‘No… it is my decision.'”

Deeply connected are Dhoni, Kohli, and BAS.
Dhoni’s relationship with Kohli and BAS dates back to 1998. Twenty-five years ago, Kohli gave his kits to Dhoni because he believed he was a young, bright prospect. After the wait ended in 2004, the year MSD made his India debut, it took Kohli six years to meet Dhoni in person. Unfortunately, Dhoni ended up smashing his first ODI century against Pakistan with the number ‘BAS’ on his bat, scoring 148. Even when Dhoni signed with a number of sports companies, including Spartan, Reebok, and others, Kohli continued to give Dhoni gear.

Kohli took six months to come around to the concept of backing Dhoni, and it took Paramjit that long. MSD could not sleep before the storm he unleashed in Visakhapatnam. Once, when Kohli had met Dhoni, his wife could not identify the Ranchi youngster. Afterwards, following his daring century, Dhoni phoned her and introduced himself as “Aunty.”
