Narsingh is the new chairman of the athletes panel for WFI

Following a procedure set by the global governing body of the sport, former Commonwealth Games gold medalist Narsingh Pancham Yadav was chosen head of the Wrestling Federation of India’s Athletes’ Commission here on Wednesday.

Seven members were chosen via a ballot-paper vote that included eight contenders for the seven available seats. Narsingh was subsequently appointed as the commission’s chairman.

Before the 2016 Olympics, two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, who was injured and missed the qualifying event, asked to face the Games-bound Narsingh in a trial fight. This request made news.
