NBA: Jordan Clarkson scores a triple-double in the Utah Jazz’s 127-90 victory against the Dallas Mavericks, their first since 2008

Monday night in Salt Lake City, the Jazz defeated the Dallas Mavericks 127-90 to get revenge for a 50-point deficit they had earlier in the season given up to Jordan Clarkson, who recorded Utah’s first triple-double in over 16 years.

After Carlos Boozer’s triple-double on February 13, 2008, Clarkson became the first Jazz player to do it during the regular season with a total of 20 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.

On December 6, the Mavericks thrashed the Jazz 147-97 in Dallas.

Utah, which has won eight of its previous eleven games, dominated the play for most of the evening and opened up the score with a 25-2 run in the second half.

With 24 points, including 14 in the first quarter as Utah built a double-digit lead, Simone Fontecchio led the Jazz.

Walker Kessler added 11 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks, while Lauri Markkanen added 17 points, John Collins scored 15, and Keyonte George scored 14.

Luka Doncic ended with 19 points, 14 assists, and six rebounds after recording a triple-double in the first half in the December rout.

After missing 12 games due to a heel injury, Kyrie Irving returned for Dallas and finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jaden Hardy scored 17 points and drained five 3-pointers as he heated up from the outside.

At the half, the Mavericks cut the Jazz’s advantage to 62-55, then in the third quarter, they briefly closed the gap to three points.

Dallas was within 81-75 following a dunk by Dwight Powell, but after a Jazz timeout, the game took a sharp turn.

Using 3-pointers, Markkanen and Clarkson—neither of whom had played in Dallas a month prior—started a run that gave Utah a 14-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Jazz kept up their impressive play, scoring the first four points to lead 97-79.

Irving gave the Mavericks some hope with a 3-pointer and a layup, but the Jazz took control of the game with a 13-0 run to lead 110-84.

Following a Dallas basket, the Jazz scored 12 straight points to completely break up the game.

Dante Exum, a former Jazz guard who has performed well for Dallas this year, had a contusion in his right heel and had to leave early.
