Odisha FC gains an advantage against Mohun Bagan Super Giants in the Indian Super League Semifinals

After giving up a goal as early as the third minute of the Indian Super League (ISL) first-leg semifinal here today, Odisha FC came back to defeat Mohun Bagan Super Giant 2-1.

After nine tries, the Juggernauts finally defeated the Mariners in the Indian Super League. The thrilling match began with tight margins, with all three goals scored in the first half at Kalinga Stadium.

Manvir Singh gave the Antonio Lopez Habas-coached team the lead in the third minute, but Carlos Delgado and Roy Krishna each scored once in the eleventh and thirty-ninth minutes to help Odisha keep their undefeated home record this season (13 games).

This matchup of the last four will have its second leg on Sunday at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium.

After receiving a few yellow cards each, Mohun Bagan attacker Armando Sadiku and goal scorer Delgado were eventually sent off in the 74th and 67th minutes, respectively, to complete this fiercely fought match with ten men on each side. They are both well-known for their expansive, fluid football plays.

They were, nonetheless, innately well-organized in this game, leaving no openings in their backlines, forcing one another to go outside of their comfort zones and come up with inventive tactics to reach the back of the net.

Manvir, a brilliant player for the Mariners on the flanks, scored the second-fastest goal in the ISL playoffs in 2016 against Mumbai City FC at 2:21 minutes, only behind Lalrindika Ralte’s goal for ATK at 2:08 minutes.
