On July 21, Lionel Messi is anticipated to make his Inter Miami debut

The franchise announced on Tuesday that Lionel Messi would likely make his Major League Soccer debut with Inter Miami on 21 July.

Owner Jorge Mas informed a few media sites on Monday that he and Lionel Messi have reached an agreement and are completing the necessary paperwork and obtaining a visa. Messi will sign a deal until the end of the 2025 season with an option for 2026, the club announced to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The club said on Tuesday that Messi’s deal would be worth $50 million to $60 million annually. He won’t be able to sign until his deal with Paris Saint-Germain ends somewhere in July.

On June 7, Lionel Messi, 35, declared his intention to join Miami. The Leagues Cup matchup between the Argentine legend and Cruz Azul would be his debut match in Fort Lauderdale.

The group also said that it would fill in the corners of DRV PNK Stadium in order to increase capacity by 3,000 to 3,200 seats over the course of the next four weeks, bringing total seating to around 22,000 people.

Mas said the Miami Herald, “I believe there will always be a before and after Messi when we speak about the sport in the United States. “I have a very, very strong conviction that we can establish one of the top two leagues in the world in North America and the United States, if not the greatest.” I must stress how important this news is.

According to the Herald, who cited a league source, Miami is also finalising a deal with midfielder Sergio Busquets, a former Barcelona colleague of Lionel Messi.

Mas also said that he intends to begin building Miami Freedom Park, the team’s long-term residence close to Miami International Airport, within the next two weeks and that he plans to have the facility ready in the summer or autumn of 2025, according to the Herald.

According to Mas, Miami intends to increase security by busing players into the stadium for games.
