Pat Cummins will keep his options open for the fourth test of the Ashes

Although Australia leads the five-match Ashes series 2-1, they may be wondering what went wrong as a consequence of the 3 wicket defeat at Headingley.

Eight days will pass until the fourth Test between England and Australia begins at Old Trafford on July 19.

When asked about the possible lineup for the forthcoming Test, Australia skipper Pat Cummins indicated that he would leave all options open and seek out the lineup that would give his side the greatest chance of winning the series.

“You keep all options open; we still have nine or ten days; now let’s breathe deeply.” We’ll take a few days off,” Cummins was cited by ICC as saying.

“However, everyone becomes involved again. Greeny must be able to play for Manchester. Josh Hazlewood will also be back there. We’ll look at the wicket and choose the best XI once we have a complete roster.

Mitchell Marsh, an all-rounder who made 100 runs in the Headingley Test’s first innings, may wind up getting a spot. Although Cummins did not explicitly rule out either possibility, he did admit that it would be difficult to keep Marsh off the squad.

However, it was a pretty remarkable week, wasn’t it? “Yeah, it’s possible, but, I mean, it was a pretty impressive week, wasn’t it?” About Marsh, Cummins said.

Cummins also mentioned Todd Murphy, a spinner who took Nathan Lyon’s place during the third Test due to injury. We wished Todd had been given a little bit more of a chance to contribute, but I’m certain that will change when he plays in Manchester the following week.

The Ashes were still in play on Sunday thanks to outstanding performances from Chris Woakes and Harry Brook with the bat after Australia had found themselves in front of England many times at Headingley.
