Prior to BBL|13, Adelaide Strikers name their new captain

Matthew Short will take over as captain of the Adelaide Strikers for the next 13th season of the Big Bash League, the team announced. Travis Head, who led the Strikers before, has been replaced by Short. It’s interesting to note that Short captained Strikers during the previous campaign and had a standout individual performance.

The standout all-around batsman in the 2022–2023 edition of the premier event amassed 458 runs and claimed 11 wickets. He made his T20I and ODI debuts for Australia thanks to his strong season-long performance, and he is a strong candidate to be included in Australia’s team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies.

The 28-year-old Short is “excited” and considers it an honor to be assigned the duty.

“I’ve spent the last five summers living in Adelaide with the Strikers; I adore the city and the team, so it is truly an honor to be named captain of the team.” I’m eager to devote all of my concentration to captaincy in BBL|13 since I really loved the little taste I had to experience it in the previous season.

“I think we’ve got a really great list this season and I can’t wait to see what we can do together, starting on Saturday night in front of our home fans,” Short said.

“We are excited to name Matt as our sixth captain. He was an excellent candidate to assume the leadership of the Adelaide Strikers. We were very pleased with his leadership when he stepped up last year, and we’re excited to see him develop in the position even more,” Gillespie said.
