Results from WWE Monday Night Raw: Rhea Ripley Makes An Amazing Announcement, Sheamus Returns

Intercontinental champion Sami Zayn’s hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, hosted this week’s WWE Monday Night Raw edition. Sami Zayn was supposed to defend his title against Alpha Academy’s Chad Gable there. Longtime pals, Zayn and Gable collaborated to remove previous Intercontinental champion Gunther from power. The two competed against one another for the championship on Monday, with the script having been reversed. The most recent Raw program kept up the momentum leading up to the next WWE pay-per-view, Backlash, which is scheduled for May 4 in Lyon, France. A few of the portions also addressed the events of WrestleMania 40, perhaps laying the groundwork for major future developments.

Ripley’s major declaration

Despite the general belief that she was injured after Liv Morgan’s unexpected assault last week, Rhea Ripley began Monday Night Raw by lifting her championship with her left hand while her right hand was in a sling. Ripley did not hesitate to voice her dissatisfaction. She was told that her title of Women’s World Champion would have to be relinquished. Ripley did not fight against the inevitable, but she did threaten anybody who dared to challenge her while she was abroad that they would not be able to keep their titles long when she returned.

Sheamus triumphantly reappears

The theme music from his 2009 WWE debut, “Written In My Face,” served as Sheamus’s return track. As they watched the comeback of “The Celtic Warrior,” the audience in the arena showered him with affection. The Great White overcomes a protracted neck injury in his first WWE battle since August 2023. Sheamus matched Ivar of the Viking Raiders in toughness and seemed in excellent condition, as if he had not left the ring in over eight months. Sheamus made a triumphant comeback to the ring by using the well-known Brogue Kick finisher to end the bout.

Triple H unveils new games

In the ring with RAW general manager Adam Pearce and WWE COO Triple H, The Awesome Truth unveiled the new tag team championships. Along with new belts, The Miz and R-Truth will no longer be recognized to as the Raw Tag Team champions. Going forward, they will be referred to as the World Tag Team Champions instead.

Rhodes’s major clue

The Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes wasted no time in thanking Seth Rollins after entering the stadium to deafening cheers, then turned his attention to The Rock and The Bloodline. He went on to allude to the prospect of The Final Boss and himself competing in the future, stating that he believed the latter still had bouts left in him. The American Nightmare acknowledged Jey Uso and thanked him for his help at WrestleMania 40. Even though he tried to return the favor, Jey informed him he had to do it himself.

Zayn upholds the Intercontinental Championship

Sami Zayn continued his amazing run by successfully defending the Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable in Raw’s highly anticipated main event. In what was undoubtedly a hotly fought fight, Zayn overcame his resilient opponent. When the Intercontinental champion was hugging his wife, Gable attacked and gave him a suplex outside the ring.
