Sakshi and Manju Rani tear through the quarterfinals of the 7th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships

On day four of the 7th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships at the GBU Indoor Stadium in Greater Noida, silver medalist Manju Rani (48 kg) and two-time young world champion Sakshi (57 kg) continued their excellent form by making it to the quarterfinals.

Manju Rani, representing the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), defeated Chandigarh’s Guddi 5-0 by showcasing her abilities and expertise. The fighter will now take against Sanjana of Delhi on Monday in the quarterfinals.

Sakshi of SSCB took on Refa Mohid of Telangana in a round-of-16 game. Sakshi’s aggressive style and powerful blows were too much for Refa to handle, and as a consequence, the referee stopped the first round of action in Sakshi’s favor. In the quarterfinals, Sakshi will face Aarti Mehra from Chandigarh.

Aarti Dariyal of Uttarakhand faced off against 2022 Senior National Champion Shashi Chopra (63 kg) in other noteworthy fights. Shashi proved how strong she was as she won by a unanimous vote and advanced to the tournament’s final eight. Shashi will compete against All India Police’s Sonu for a semifinal berth.

Meanwhile, Ankushita Boro faced Vanlalhriatpuii of Mizoram in the 66kg contest. Ankushita controlled the fight from start to finish, winning easily by a score of 5-0. In the quarterfinals, Anjali Tushir of RSPB will play against her.

The Boxing Federation of India is hosting this important competition, in which over 300 fighters are participating across 12 different divisions. Wednesday is the day of the finals.
