Sofyan Amrabat is acquired by Man United on loan from Fiorentina

Midfielder Sofyan Amrabat of Morocco called Manchester United the “club of my dreams” after sealing a season-long loan deal to the English squad in the late hours of the last trading day.

Fiorentina of Italy, who apparently paid a loan price of 10 million euros (USD 10.8 million), lost Amrabat on Friday. United has the option to pay 21.5 million dollars (or 20 million euros) to make the agreement permanent.

Fiorentina’s four games this season were played without the 27-year-old Amrabat because he had demanded a move. His excellent achievements at the World Cup in Qatar last year, where he served as a shield in front of the defense, helping Morocco become the first team from Africa or the Arab world to get to the semifinals, helped him gain international recognition.

Amrabat was crucial to Fiorentina’s success last season as they advanced to the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League finals.

Amrabat stated, “I’ve had to wait for this time, but I always follow my heart, and now I’m playing for the team of my dreams.

“I play with a lot of enthusiasm. I want to convey that enthusiasm to the team, and I will give my all in whatever I do for them.

Amrabat and Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, were teammates at Dutch club Utrecht.

“I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players,” Amrabat said.

“His coaching and direction helped me so much early in my career to improve as a player.

I’m certain he will assist me perform to the best of my ability so I can support the team this season.

John Murtough, the director of football at UniAPted, said that Amrabat’s “committed, high-energy approach to the game fits perfectly with the group that we are building here.”

“We know that Sofyan’s mentality, dynamism, and technical qualities will help the squad,” Murtough stated.
