The Da Silva guys have won a gold medal!

In the MSSA inter-school football competition, Dr. Antonio Da Silva High School (Dadar) triumphed over Jankidevi Public School (Andheri) 2-1 in the tie-breaker to win the boys U-10 championship on Saturday at Azad Maidan.

Both clubs adopted an aggressive offensive style of play with lots of goal-scoring activity at each end in the top match between two equally matched teams. Under the guidance of Francis Fernandes and his son Revelino, the Dadar lads eventually established themselves and took the initiative, creating the best opportunities but failing to make use of them. Harsh Rampelli’s free shot struck the crossbar and flew over, just missing the opportunity to put Antonio Da Silva ahead.

Antonio Da Silva remained in control throughout the second session, but the Andheri boys battled hard and had their opportunities as well. Nevertheless, neither side was able to break the tie, and at the conclusion of regular time, the score was 0-0. In the subsequent three-kick tiebreaker, Antonio Da Silva converted twice, via Aarush Shinde and Harsh Rampelli, while Jankidevi only scored once, through Yusuf Shaikh. Atif Shaikh and Zidan Shaikh, the captains of Jankidevi, missed the mark.

In the third-place match, Green Acres School (Chembur) defeated Hill Spring High School (Tardeo) 1-0. The winner was scored by Green Acres captain and handsome striker Jivin Upadhyaya after a scoreless first half.
